The perfect location for your next event
The Colonel Bolton Home is known to be one of the finest pre-Civil War antebellum homes of its style and type in the entire state. Built in 1833 by Colonel Bolton who was originally from North Carolina. Bolton served as the first warden of the the Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City. The home is located near Jefferson City, just 3 miles past Wardsville on Route W and stands high on a bluff overlooking the Osage River Valley. The stone used on the exterior of the house is said to have been quarried from the Osage River bluff, sent by boat to St. Louis for dressing and then returned to be used in building the home.
